Tips and tricks

Fix, rebuild or glue

The choice is yours. Pattex 100% Gel isn’t just designed to be used as an adhesive. With its gap filling feature, you can even use it for vertical application thanks to its gel structure.

Paint, sand or finish

Pattex 100% Gel is formulated for strong bonds and fillings. And, with its formula that is resistant to water, grease, solvents, cold and heat, it will not shrink or stretch. That means you can paint over it, sand it down or add any other sort of finish to it.

Clean before curing

Even if you work with the utmost precision, glue can still go where you don’t quite want it to go. In this case use ethanol, or any other universal solvent, to clean any adhesive remains before they start to cure.

Once cured

Even if you know what you’re doing, mistakes can sometimes happen. And you most realize what went wrong when everything’s done. Once hard, Pattex 100% Gel can only be removed mechanically. The best thing to do is use a scraper. But be sure to consult the instructions, so you know exactly what you’re doing.

Don’t mix UV and moisture

Pattex 100% Gel should not be used for sealing glass that is exposed both to UV light and moisture.

Step by step

  1. Before gluing, check that the surfaces to be joined are load-bearing, free of grease and dust. Vacuuming the surfaces is a good idea. Old adhesive and sealant residues should also be removed, and paint coatings that aren't properly adhered. To protect adjoining areas, simply mask them off with films or adhesive tapes.

  2. Apply a thin layer of glue on one side. The curing process can be accelerated if the surface is pre-wet. Wipe the areas to be glued with a damp cloth before applying the adhesive.

  3. Press the two surfaces toghether. For best results, do not move the object for 2 hours.

  4. Final resistance is reached after 24 hours.
